Thanksgiving: A Potawatomi Perspective

Thanksgiving: A Potawatomi Perspective In-Person / Online

Join Billie Warren, a Potawatomi woman from the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians and an Environmental Consultant and Educator, as she shares some traditional recipes that appear on her Thanksgiving table each year. Billie will provide a brief history of the area’s local indigenous people, followed by a discussion of what the Thanksgiving holiday means from her perspective. Then, we’ll focus on the communal Thanksgiving table as it looks today–what we consume, how we can incorporate indigenous plants and ingredients, and how we can use the opportunity to build a culture of gratitude in our families and communities.

For adults ages 18 and up. Attend in-person or on Zoom. Registration opens November 1. Register online or call 219-926-7696 to reserve your spot.
