Creating a Dunes State Park In-Person / Online
On Mar. 6, 1923, Indiana Governor Warren T. McCray signed the bill approving a state park in the Indiana dunes, which opened July 1926. Although not the park that was initially hoped for, it became the busiest park in the state almost immediately. Museum Curator Serena Ard will discuss the efforts to get a park in the dunes, the steps to open the park in 1926, and the early activities and changes in the park. Attend in person or on Zoom. Registration is required and begins June 29.
